40 D specs

I apologize if it has been already posted here, but I did not found ...

From the same spanish reliable source (Rafa Irusta Blog site: En busca de la Luz) that did revealed the specs of the 400D and the MkIII before get the official announcement (and match them !!), here are the specs:

Sensor 1,6x - 10 Mpx
Self cleaning sensor
3 "LCD
LiveView
Formats JPG, RAW and sRAW
ISO 100 to 1600 in steps of 1/3
Shooting speed 6,25 fps, 75 JPG or 17 RAW
Available grip BG-E2
18-55mm lens renewed
No weather sealing
Possible DIGIC3

Possible launch date: around August 23th, Thursday ...

Sorry but not too revolutionary specs as many people expect or want.

Speaking of "self cleaning sensor", does anyone know how that works? Also, how are you supposed to clean your sensor if it isn't "self cleaning"?

self cleaning sensor is what the XTi and MKIII have. it gently shakes the sensor whenever the camera is turned off. i have it, not too sure how well it works. otherwise you just clean the sensor like you always do. blow it off first then if that doesn't work cleaning solution.

live view is what most non SLR camera's have. The MKIII was the first SLR to have it. it allows you to view the picture on the display before taking it, you won't have to use the view finder.

Rumours as usual just that, but 6.25 fps feasable, liveview, usefull, 3" LCD usefull, 'selfclean sensor feasable. All in would i trade up from my 30D? no way, will it increase Canon's market share, probably!!

I think olympus brought live view out on a dslr first i might be wrong, the downside is i believe you have to manual focus with live view, not much use to my mind except awkward angle type stuff where you just can't get your eye up to the viewfinder!

Live View is the same like in the MkIII ... you can in manual (not AF) see the scene in real time in the LCD, so you can adjust manually the focus with the help of a zoomed view of the scene to be sure your target is sharp; you can modify lighting and see in real time how it looks, etc ... in other words the sensor is acquiring continuosly at a high frame rate the scene and at the same time displaying it in the 3" LCD ...

in my opinion the 10mp would be good only with Digic 3, if not too much noise.
The 6.25 fps is ok I guess and the 3" lcd would be good but if it's a bit brighter.

I guess if the high ISO was a tad better I would get it.

I think so due to the LiveView feature too, I think is inherent to DIGIC3

The 1600 ISO doesn't make sense. The 30D is 3200 max. I am sure that is a typo.

Well, the 30D is rated 100-1600 in 1/3 stop increments, plus 3200 ISO available in an "expanded" mode. But the 1/3 stop increments stop at 1600. Meaning, this is probably the same thing.

Renewing the kit lens would be a plus as it was considered a bit weak with the XTi/400D's 10.1 mpx sensor.
